Indoor Table Tennis Tables

Indoor Table Tennis Tables

Indoor Table Tennis Tables
The advances in table construction has meant that indoor tables can fold away and be stored in a small area (from 143cm high x 153cm wide x 8cm deep to 158cm high x 183cm wide x 65cm deep) and be wheeled out and ready to use with very little time and effort. There is a huge range to suit all needs, from occasional use to practice for competitions to tables that need to be built like battleships to withstand a bombardment from any number of players. If you are having trouble choosing which table is the right one for you and would like some advice please call us on 01371 875000 or e-mails advice@table-tennis-tables.co.uk and we will be more than happy to help.

More about Indoor Table Tennis Tables
The thickness of the tabletop on indoor tables has a huge effect on the quality of play. The thicker, denser or harder the tabletop, the higher and more consistent the bounce will be. However, please note that Cornilleau use a very high density board. This means for example, their 16mm top would give a level of play equal to that of a 19mm top made by another manufacturer.

As the price of the table increases, so does the thickness of the tabletop, and in turn, the quality of play. Indoor table tennis tables start with some of the cheaper tables being 12mm thick, which are designed for fun and getting children started playing table tennis. Competition approved tables are normally 25mm thick. The tabletop is the most important part of the table tennis table, but there are other areas that are important when choosing a table. A table tennis tabletop is very heavy, so you will need to make sure the undercarriage of the table is going to be sturdy enough to take the weight. An average indoor table tennis table weighs around 80kg, so moving the table tennis table is also an area that needs to be considered. Look for tables with larger wheels and those that fold lower to the ground in their storage position. This gives them a lower centre of gravity and makes them more stable when moved.
