Indoor Table Tennis Tables

Since 1999 we've supplied tables backed up with first class customer service, unrivalled product knowledge and fast, free delivery.

Within our indoor table tennis section you'll find a great range to suit all needs; from occasional 'ping pong' use, to regular practice for competitive table tennis players. Some are built like battleships to withstand heavy-handed use in schools & youth clubs.

Choosing an indoor table tennis table can be difficult as they look so similar. To help we’ve written ‘Pro Reviews’ which explain the pros & cons of each table. This information is invaluable when deciding which table tennis table best suits your needs.

Indoor tables are designed to be used & stored in a heated, insulated building. If you plan to use the table in direct sunlight, or to store it in an outbuilding or garage, you should consider an outdoor table. The tops on outdoor tables are also much more resistant to scratches etc. plus if a drink is spilt on the top it can just be wiped off (even hours later). Beware of some retailers claiming their indoor tops have 'special paint' to allow outdoor use. They never last!

Having trouble choosing? For honest, impartial advice, please call 01371 875000 or e-mail [email protected].. Our friendly, expert team have a wealth of experience & always recommend the best table for your needs rather than the most expensive.

More about Indoor Table Tennis Tables

Table thickness & bounce

The thickness of the table top on indoor tables has a huge effect on the quality of play. In short, the thicker and denser the table top, the higher and more consistent the bounce will be. It’s usually assumed that for beginners and leisure players this will not be important, but in reality it is often the exact opposite. If you imagine that you are new to table tennis or you’re teaching a child how to play, the longer the ball is in the air, the better chance you have of hitting the ball. Therefore, we would always recommend aiming to get the best quality bounce possible for your budget.

Competition table thickness

As the price of the table increases, usually the thickness of the table top increases too, and in turn, the quality of play. Indoor table tennis tables start with some of the cheaper tables being as thin as 12mm thick. These indoor tables are still good fun and ok for getting children into playing table tennis, however they are usually very quickly outgrown in terms of skill level. Competition approved tables are normally 25mm thick but in reality this is often overkill for the average leisure player. The table top is the most important part of the table tennis table in terms of play quality, but there are other areas that are extremely important when choosing a table, such as the thickness of the frame and legs.

Table strength & stability

A table tennis table top is very heavy, so you will need to make sure the undercarriage of the table is going to be sturdy enough to take the weight and the level of use it’s going to be getting. The average indoor table tennis table weighs around 80kg, so moving the table tennis table is also a factor that needs to be considered. If you look for a table with larger wheels it’ll be a great help when it comes to moving the table around, particularly if you’re buying for a village hall or club. It’s worth looking for a table that folds lower to the ground when in the storage position, as this gives the table a lower centre of gravity (making it safer and less likely to be pulled over by small children) and also makes it more stable.

The strength you’ll require from your indoor table tennis table will largely depend on how the table’s going to be treated by the players, and how often it’ll be used. If you imagine that the table tennis ball weighs next to nothing and you’re not supposed to lean on the table during play, it means that the table doesn’t actually need to be very strong. However, often kids (and even adults) do lean against the table while chatting and sometimes even sit on it! In that instance you’d obviously need a much stronger table, but this does push up the price of the table.
